Quite tired right now but have posted in a while. The kitties are lazing around, a moment of silence before they begin their next round of chaos! last night was a veritable orgy of fur covered purring as they decided to descend upon me in my gentle sleep, wakening me with the squirming, pawing, tickling, and suckling (one of the babies likes to suckle my fleece). I’m debating keeping them out of the bedroom tonight, which I only recently reclaimed, mostly to reclaim my sense of sanity and appropriate use of space – I had been sleeping on a futon mattress in the middle of my living room until last week since the kitty-babies came home to stay with me in May.

That said, they have brought so much joy into my life I don’t know what I was doing before!  Even still I am having some mood issues, and seem to have grown some tolerance to my meds.  Having generalized anxiety and sour moods for no known reason … anyway I don’t want to complain about that now, here.

In other random thoughts, we were talking about the oil spill again last night and about the moratorium on deep water drilling, which can be debated whether that is a good thing or not, but … Why hasn’t anyone suggested a MORATORIUM ON FISHING???!!!  Let the species recover for g-d’s sake.. why has this not occurred to anyone? We don’t dare rob people of their precious seafood dinner, but we’ll gladly rob the life of innocents for our palate. Talk about addiction (as in, addiction to fossil fuels), this one is so deep under wraps that no one dare speak of it. Wake up people. Fish are going to be gone from your waters in a few decades at this rate and then you will HAVE TO give up eating them.

How’d the idea come to be?

There’s this group of people in Pittsburgh who have been doing waffle parties since the ’90s. It sounded like a lot of fun. … I’m vegan, and I’ve only lived [in Michigan] for about a year and a half.

This is what I got from the words ‘vegan,’ yogi’ and ‘reject’ and 5 minutes of writing. I actually like it; it was fun!

Once upon a time I aspired to be vegan
Just one PETA video and I was ready to begin
Daily I gorged myself on gourmet char-grilled seitan
and freshly made salads topped with candied pecans
But one day my Yoga master, a respected old fogey
told me I had to have dairy if I wanted to be a strong yogi
Laughing in his face I continued to select
the very best rice cheeses & soymilks I could detect
He told me I was bordering on disrespect
And threatened to toss me out of this exclusive sect
So now I practice at home, a veganic yoga reject.
